About the Collection

John Boyne's fiction ranges across historical settings, contemporary society, family relationships, morality, identity, and the consequences of human decisions. His official bibliography lists all three titles among his novels.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas tells the story of Bruno, a young German boy whose life changes after his family moves from Berlin to a location near a concentration camp. His friendship with Shmuel, a Jewish boy on the other side of the fence, becomes central to the novel's exploration of innocence and the Holocaust.

All the Broken Places returns to the world of The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas through Gretel Fernsby, Bruno's older sister. Now an elderly woman living in London, Gretel is forced to confront the secrets and guilt surrounding her childhood in Nazi Germany. It is a connected follow-up to the earlier novel.

The Echo Chamber takes a very different direction, offering a satirical contemporary story centred on the privileged Cleverley family. Their carefully constructed lives begin to unravel in the age of social media, public outrage, and instant judgment. Boyne describes it as a comic and satirical exploration of modern life.

Why This Set Works

This collection offers a varied introduction to John Boyne's fiction, combining historical fiction • literary drama • family relationships • moral questions • guilt and memory • social commentary • satire.

The collection contains three individual novels rather than a single continuous trilogy. The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and All the Broken Places are directly connected, while The Echo Chamber is a separate contemporary novel.

Wicked Years Series 4 Books Collection Set: Wicked, Son of a Witch, A Lion Among Men & Out of Oz - Gregory Maguire

Store owner replied: Hi Toni! We aim to find special collections! So glad you found us. These are published by a friend who owns a large company abroad! His books are lovely:-) They also have a paperback version I believe... So happy you are happy!

My experience with The Reading Spa was nothing but pleasurable. I ordered the Avatar book set as a gift for my partners birthday. I sent en email to check on shipping and arrival time to see if they could send it out before his birthday. They got back to me right away, said they would send it out as soon as they could, and were very friendly to converse with. There was one book missing that they addressed in our email exchange that hadn’t arrived for them yet. They took the time to send what was there so I could present the gift, and as soon as the other book arrived for them they sent it out immediately. I was able to present my gift on time, and my partner was so thrilled with it all thanks to them. I couldn’t recommend this place more!
