Journey through the maps, landscapes, and imagined worlds that have shaped some of literature's most memorable stories with The Writer's Map: An Atlas of Imaginary Lands. Edited by Huw Lewis-Jones, this richly illustrated collection explores the maps created by writers and artists, the maps that inspired them, and the fictional worlds that have captured readers' imaginations. All of our books are brand new.

About the Book

The Writer's Map brings together an extraordinary collection of literary cartography, examining how maps can help writers imagine, construct, and explore fictional worlds.

Featuring contributions from acclaimed writers and illustrators, the book considers maps from fantasy, science fiction, adventure, children's literature, literary classics, mythology, and comics, alongside historical maps and the personal sketches that helped authors develop their stories.

The contributors discuss the role of mapping in their own creative work and inspirations. Among the featured subjects are Philip Pullman, Cressida Cowell, Robert Macfarlane, Joanne Harris, David Mitchell, Daniel Reeve, and Miraphora Mina, with material connected to works and worlds including Tolkien's Middle-earth, Harry Potter, Moominvalley, Westeros, Narnia, Atlantis, and Utopia.

Why This Book Works

With its combination of literary essays, beautifully reproduced maps, illustrations, and behind-the-scenes creative material, The Writer's Map sits at the intersection of literature, cartography, fantasy, illustration, and storytelling. It is particularly appealing to readers who enjoy discovering how imaginary worlds are constructed and visualized.

The book includes 167 full-colour images in the current Thames & Hudson edition, making it as much a visual reference and display book as a literary exploration.

Wicked Years Series 4 Books Collection Set: Wicked, Son of a Witch, A Lion Among Men & Out of Oz - Gregory Maguire

Store owner replied: Hi Toni! We aim to find special collections! So glad you found us. These are published by a friend who owns a large company abroad! His books are lovely:-) They also have a paperback version I believe... So happy you are happy!

My experience with The Reading Spa was nothing but pleasurable. I ordered the Avatar book set as a gift for my partners birthday. I sent en email to check on shipping and arrival time to see if they could send it out before his birthday. They got back to me right away, said they would send it out as soon as they could, and were very friendly to converse with. There was one book missing that they addressed in our email exchange that hadn’t arrived for them yet. They took the time to send what was there so I could present the gift, and as soon as the other book arrived for them they sent it out immediately. I was able to present my gift on time, and my partner was so thrilled with it all thanks to them. I couldn’t recommend this place more!
